PFC Bravest Respond to MVC with Entrapment
Last night at 10:29 PM, Station 53 responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of York Road and Porters Road in Heidelberg Township, alongside MICU 97-41 from Wellspan EMS Heidelberg Station and Rescue 4 from Friendship Hose Company #1 Spring Grove. Following the initial alert, we were upgraded to an entrapment scenario by Northern York County Regional Police who were already on-site. Chief 53-2 swiftly established Command, called for an additional MICU, and reported that the vehicle’s occupant was confined. MICU 79-2 from Hanover Area Fire & Rescue joined as the second medical unit.
Upon arrival, Engine 53-1’s crew deployed Holmatro rescue tools to remove the vehicle door and extricate the patient. Rescue 4 and Engine 53-2 provided assistance. Engine 53-2, an Engine-Tanker, routinely serves as a protective barrier and brings extra personnel to accidents like this one. Fire Police from both Station 4 and Station 47 (Jefferson Vol Fire Co) were on hand to help secure the scene. One individual was transported to a nearby hospital, while the second patient declined transport. The incident is currently under investigation by NYCRPD.
