Engine 53-1 Transfers to 79, Engine 53-2 to Working Fire

Yesterday at 1100 Engine 53-1 transferred with a crew of 5 to Hanover Area Fire Rescue Station 79-2 while their Department was out of service to honor the life of Retired Fire Chief Jan Cromer, who recently passed away after a hard fought battle with cancer. Engine 53-1 was assigned as Engine 79-2, with Engine 33-1 (UH&L) assigned as Engine 79-3, Engine 52-2 (Pleasant Hill) assigned as Rescue 79 and Quint 29 (SAVES) as Truck 79. While on the transfer, all listed units responded to Gamewell Box 431, auxiliary connected to PetSmart on Wilson Avenue, finding a false trip. Other units on the transfer also responded to an auto accident.

A crew remained for Engine 53-2 and at 1428 hours, Engine 53-2 was alerted for Box 12-42, assisting North Codorus on a residential structure fire on Lehman Road. Engine 53-2 arrived and established nurse tanker operations. The 2nd Alarm was eventually struck bringing most of the units transferred to Station 79 to the scene.

Engine 53-2 operated for approximately 2 hours at the fire and Engine 53-1 returned to Station 53 at 1845 hours.
