A busy day for Station 53

This morning at 0657, 53 and 47 (Jefferson) Fire Police were alerted for traffic control at a no injury crash in the 6300 block of York Road. NYCRPD arrived and requested Station 53 for debris removal. Engine 53-1 responded and arrived to find a tractor trailer up an embankment against a work van in the roadway. The trailer was an empty log trailer. The debris was cleared and the box placed in service.
At 1734 hours, Engine 53-1 was dispatched to assist Station 52 (Pleasant Hill) on the 1st Alarm Assignment for a residential structure fire on Baltimore Pike in West Manheim Township. A furnace malfunction was discovered and the assignment was held to equipment on scene.
At 1819 hours, Box 53-13 was struck for a chimney fire on Gardner Road in Heidelberg Township. Engines 53-1 and 53-2 responded quickly. Chief 53-1 arrived within 1 minute of the dispatch advising light smoke from the chimney and established the Command. Upon investigation, crews found a malfunctioning pellet stove and command held the assignment to Engines 53-1 and 53-2 and Truck 4 (Spring Grove). The box was placed in service shortly after.
Upon returning to the firehouse, members completed our monthly maintenance checks.
