Remnants of Tropical Storm Ida Keep Station 53 Busy

Porters Fire Company stayed busy yesterday as the remnants of Ida came through the area. One person was removed from the vehicle pictured in flood waters. Several other vehicles became stranded in water as well. Numerous roadways were closed due to flooding, trees down, wires down, etc. Multiple residents and at least one business were assisted with flooding issues. Two of our portable pumps went down during the operations and would like to extend another big thank you to Station 4 (Spring Grove) for allowing us to borrow a pump for a few hours. We greatly appreciate it!
At last check, Hoff Road remains closed between Smith Station Road and Locust Road. Iron Ridge Road is anticipated to be closed for an extended period between Pigeon Hill Road and Old Hanover Road due to a culvert collapse in the 500 block. It is possible that other roads are still impassable that we are not aware of. If you encounter barricades or Road closed signs, please, find another way. For your safety, please don’t try to investigate. The roads will be open as soon as possible.
