Engine 53-1 Responds To 2nd Alarm In Penn, Investigation in West Manheim

At 1027 hours, Station 53 was alerted on the 2nd Alarm Assignment to assist Station 79 (Hanover Area) with a residential structure fire on Westminster Avenue in the 79-04 Box of Penn Township. Engine 53-1 responded quickly crew of 4 with the Chief on board. Upon arrival at the scene, the crew reported to manpower staging. After assisting on the fireground, at 11:15 Command 79 released Engine 53-1 from the scene and requested they transfer to Station 79-2 (Clover Lane) to cover the area. As the engine was making their way to Station 79-2, York County 911 notified Engine 53-1 and Adams County Truck 33 (United Hook & Ladder) by radio of an Investigation Inside in the 52-03 Box of West Manheim Township. Still on the street, Engine 53-1 responded immediately along with Engine 52-2 (Pleasant Hill), Truck 33 and Engine 79-1 (Hanover Area with recall personnel.) Engine 53-1 arrived shortly after Engine 52-2. Chief 53 established Command 52 at the request of 52 personnel while the engine crews investigated the incident. A malfunctioning stove was discovered and command scaled the box back to Engines 52-2 and 53-1. Crews quickly returned to service with Engine 53-1 returning to Station 79-2.
Station 53 has had in excess of 30 calls so far for the month of June.
